Wing Tsun uses deflection, evasion, and dissolving of an attacker’s force. Instead of “blocking,” we deflect. Instead of “blocking,” we evade. Instead of “blocking,” we dissolve the attacker’s force. The word “blocking” assumes we can stand the stronger force of a larger, stronger attacker. It is unlikely that a weaker person would choose you to attack. Wing Tsun focuses on the above ideas throughout. Ultimately, we are just not there. We have moved a little or a lot depending on the circumstances!

Unlike some wing chun lineages, this is enabled by superb footwork, i.e. the ability to move quickly out of harm’s way while defending and countering with strikes and takedowns.
